BMS PACKAGE SAND FILTER

The BMS Dual Media Sand Filter is a compact Duty/Standby filter system specifically designed for the tertiary treatment of effluent discharges from sewage treatment plants. The filter housing is constructed in GRP and comes fully assembled. All units are fitted with effluent distribution pipe work, dual media anthracite and sand on a gravel support bed, lateral pipe work and a backwash overflow channel. Automatic backwashing controls and a backwash sump fitted with a pump are also provided.

Background

Since its inception, BMS has been a Research & Development led organisation. Our package Dual Media Sand Filter was produced in response to customer requests for a compact package teritary treatment unit. The Sand Filter produces high quality effluent without the need for perocolation, requires very low maintenance and has a small footprint.

*The filter media can be adjusted to give lower flows and higher effluent standards.
** For ease of construction the civil works consist of a flat base support slab (1.2m x 1.2m) in 20N reinforced concrete and the placing of the filter thereon. The backwash sump requires a 1.8m diameter concrete base slab. *** SS refers to Suspended Solids & BOD refers to Biochemical Oxygen Demand.
